Before the Hunt
What to Expect
There is no bad time to hunt in South Africa! Our hunting season runs from 01st of March until the 30th of October. Planning your hunt according to your preference is very important, so we recommend that rifle hunts are planned from April to August.

Transport
We will arrange a pick up and drop off if you fly to and from OR Tambo International Airport, in South Africa.
Food and Beverages
All food at Ubabalo Lodge are lovingly prepared by our local chef.We offer a variety of meals and would love for you to experience our favorite traditional barbeque (“braai”). Kindly notify us in advance if you have any allergies and any special dietary requests.
Checklist
- Decide on a date for your safari and contact bookings@ubabalolodge.co.za for availability.
- Ensure your passport is valid at least 6 months after your expected return date.
- Book your flights.
- Should you want us to embroid your name on your Ubabalo Lodge Shirt, please ensure that you send us the names and correct spelling of your names beforehand.

- Please ensure that your Rifle Permits, your temporary importation paperwork is in order.
- Should you intend to bring your own rifle please fill out SAPS form 520 and the motivation letter.
- Acquire CBP form 4457 from your nearest US Customs and Border Protection office (if you intend to bring your own rifle)
- Be sure you agree to our TERMS & CONDITIONS
- Complete the online indemnity form and email this to bookings@ubabalologe.co.za along with a copy of your valid passport.
- Please inform bookings@ubabalolodge.co.za of any medical conditions, such as allergies, disabilities, and/or physical limitations.
- Confirm your hunting dates with bookings@ubabalolodge.co.za

Hunting procedures
Terms & Conditions
- Quills, feathers, rocks, artifacts etc are biologically, historically and ecologically important to the environment. Some are protected under South Africa’s heritage laws. Therefore, there is a charge for any items which are allowed to be taken. Fossils, etchings and some other items are by law not allowed to be taken. Remember that ALL items are subject to export permits.
- Minimum safari is three hunting days and four nights. Most hunts only require four to six hunting days to fill an average safari bag.
- ALL dipping, packing, transportation and shipping costs of trophies are the clients responsibility after the safari.
- No refunds will be paid for late arrivals or early departures.
- Trophy fees are payable at completion of safari.
- Wounded and/or lost animals and any animals shot, whether incidental or accidental must be paid in full. Penalties on top of the animals fees will be applied if a wrong animal is shot.
- Daily rates include: Pick up and return, transportation while hunting, services of Professional Hunter, trackers, skinners, ranch safari staff, accommodation, laundry, meals, beverages in moderation (Speciality foods are subject to availability. Please inquire with specials requests).
- Payments accepted via EFT only. /banking details to be added
- Meat is not included in the game animals price. Meat belongs to Ubabalo Safaris or the landowner/concession. Meat may not be exported from the country of South Africa. (except South African Hunters)
- Specials conditions may apply in respect of children, please enquire.
- Dumarage, storage and any other costs once the clients trophies have left Ubabalo Safaris or the Taxidermist are for the clients account.

Bookings
Please email Ubabalo Safaris at “bookings@ubabalolodge.co.za”. Once your booking is complete, please provide us with all air tickets and full itinerary as soon as possible.
Process to Book
- A contract will be emailed for all on the safari to complete and sign. This contract must be emailed back to Ubabalo Safaris with the proof of payment as soon as possible. Ubabalo Safaris cannot reserve booking unless this is received. Air tickets should be booked as soon as possible to ensure you get the best Airline rates, as booking flights close to your safari usually cost more.
- Most packages and custom hunts require half, but some require the full amount as deposit when booking. Dates/booking confirmation and contract will be sent to the client via email once the deposit has been received. The remaining balance, if any, is payable before your arrival in South Africa. If you have booked your safari within a few months of your safari date, the full package price is usually payable on receipt of your signed contract.
Cancellation and Refunds
- NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR ANY REASON.
- Once a hunt is booked and a payment is made the hunt can be transferred to other hunters with prior approval of the outfitter.
- All Ubabalo Safaris monies paid remain a credit on a safari for a limited period of one year only, after the original booked dates. After the year period, all deposits paid will be forfeited.
- Ubabalo Safaris and their representatives are not responsible for finding alternative hunters for cancelled safaris.
Date changes
- In the case of date changes $500 will be added to the package to change a booked date in the same year, subject to available dates. Should postponement occur into the following year 10% original price will be added and will be payable before your arrival.
